ENGLAND's women may not have managed to land a bronze medal at the FIL World Cup in Prague at the weekend.

But there were some impressive performances from a number of the team's players, led from the front by top-scorer Katy Bennett.

The Pendley attacker top-scored with 15 goals for her country and also contributed five useful assists.

Rachel Kirchheimer, the Pendley midfielder, was England's second highest scorer with ten goals, while attacker Laura Merrifield - who is playing lacrosse for Maryland University in the United States, finished the tournament with nine goals to her name and an assist.

Felicity Hermsen, the Harpenden attacker, scored eight goals and had two assists as England finished fourth this time round having won bronze in Annapolis four years ago, while Purley midfielder Lucy Lynch scored seven goals in total and also provided an assist.

Only five of England's players, including the team's two goalkeepers, failed to fine the back of net. Testament in no short note that the national side caused threats all over the ptich.

And both keepers Catherine Gaunt and Anita Thorose deserve praise after both finished the tournament with a solid save county.

Gaunt, who plays for Birmingham University, had 27 saves in seven matches, while Pendley's Thorose impressed with 25 saves in the same number of matches.
